Louise Anna Duggan - percussion, dulcimer, voice
Louise works regularly in the theatre, including The Tempest with the RSC at the Roundhouse and Mike Leigh's Grief, Emperor and Galilean, and She Stoops to conquer, all at the National Theatre. Louise also composes and records for Theatre and Film along with her writing partner Zands Duggan. They wrote the music for Kieran Lynnss An Incident at the Border directed by Bruce Guthrie at the Finborough Theatre, which subsequently transferred to the West End.
Louise specialises in ethnic music styles, and in particular Arabic hand percussion. She plays Riq and Darbuka for the recording artist Naz Anine, and has written solo pieces for arabic hand percussion instruments. In 2008, she travelled to Ghana to study with the master musician Thomas Sekgura and performed with the drumming group Noko Ye Dzen. Louise has played the Marimba and Vibraphone extensively in chamber and contemporary music settings. She has played tuned percussion in Helix Percussion Duo, which toured Israel, and played at the BBC Proms, the Purcell Room, and LSO St. Luke's.
Louise studied orchestral percussion at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she graduated with a first class honours degree and the Lady Mayoress Prize for all round excellence. She went on to become a fellow at the Guildhall in 2010/11. Louise teaches percussion and Drum Kit at City University, Cokethorpe School, and Hackney Youth Orchestra. Louise's website
