Jeremy Avis was a Choral scholar at New College Oxford, before appearing and recording with several early music bands such as the Dufay Collective in the 90’s.
His musical journeys then took him for two years to West Africa studying xylophone in NW. Cameroon followed by a 3 -year stint living in Israel where he worked as a singer and also studied music in the Arabic and Sephardic traditions. Since returning to the UK he has recorded and performed with Fretwork and The Society of Strange and Ancient Instruments and of course with Joglaresa
He currently sings with The Shout, The Voice Project Quintet and recently appeared with the Jocelyn Pook Ensemble at London’s Colosseum singing for Dancer Akram Khan on Sky Arts.
He also regularly works as MD at Shakespeare’s Globe and is currently composing a large choral piece about bird song and migration for the Brighton Early Music Festival called “The Whispering Dome”.
